COURSE 4                    MASTER BARBER SKILL ASSESSMENT

A.B.I. will provide one or more courses of instruction for the purpose of preparing the student to qualify for the NY State Barber Exam. Upon completion of the Barber Refresher Course, A.B.I. will act as sponsor and assist the student in becoming a registered apprentice with the NY State Division of Licensing Services.

Recognizing the fact that there are many individuals who have skills in Barbering, Cosmetology and Nail Technology that were obtained by experience other than at Barbering, Cosmetology and Nail Technology Schools, A.B.I. has instituted a program based on observation, testing and general evaluation designed to make it possible for such individuals to receive fair “credit” for their knowledge and skills.

There are certain situations where an individual may have, for example, come to NY with a profound background in the fields of Barbering, Cosmetology, Nail Technology, possibly having worked for many years or have graduated a school in other jurisdiction. If such an individual does not have the adequate hours of training required by Division of Licensing, the State will return the application back to the the applicant telling them that they must go to the licensed school and get their credentials evaluated.

Upon evaluating a student, the director will choose at his discretion appropriate course(s) ranging from 50 - 137 hrs. Upon completion of these courses the student will be eligible to obtain a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion and will qualify for a NY State Master Barber Examination.

Schedule:

Students must attend a minimum of 3 hrs each day.

Students may not attend more then 7.5 hrs in a single day.

Students may not attend more then 6 days a week. (Mon-Sat)

Students must take a minimum of 50 hrs. and a maximum of 137 hrs.

Schedule may be made up and modified at the Director’s discretion.

Tuition:

Final course price will be based upon the evaluation of necessary courses that may be prescribed by the director. Skill assessment will be performed at no cost to student. Courses may range in price from $1,500.00 up to $2,805.00 depending on the students' skill level.
